WELCOME.
Whatever has brought you here, I hope you find something helpful.
My approach to therapy prioritizes what is important and meaningful to each individual I work with. I help people with issues such as: traumatic and stressful experiences, anxiety, insomnia, grief and loss, relationship issues, depression, persistent pain, coping with medical conditions and chronic stress.
My passion for learning and desire to be of real help has led me to gain expertise in a variety of therapeutic approaches which I integrate in a way that works for YOU.
I love working with people to develop their own internal resources, gain new skills, develop curiosity, insight and clarity, and explore new ways of seeing and being at times of difficulty and transition in their lives.

I'm honoured be here to support you on your journey of healing and self-discovery.

"Focusing will enable you to find and change where your life is stuck, cramped, hemmed in, slowed down. And it will enable you to change– to live from a deeper place than just your thoughts and feelings."
~ Eugene Gendlin, developer and author of Focusing

ABOUT JULIE
Hello, I’m Julie Giroux, a Psychotherapist & Registered Clinical Counsellor based in Victoria, British Columbia. Since 1993, I have worked in a variety of social service and health care roles providing specialized services to those dealing with challenging life experiences.
I graduated from the University of Toronto twice, first in 2001 with a degree in Occupational Therapy and again in 2014 with a master's degree in Counselling Psychology & Psychotherapy. I also completed the teacher certification in Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction at the University of Massachusetts between 2010 and 2018.
In recent years I have specialized my clinical practice in helping individuals heal from a wide range of traumatic experiences and chronic stress. I help people get in touch with what matters most to them and develop more fulfilling and satisfying lives. I have pursued in-depth training in EMDR (including advanced training in Attachment-Focused EMDR, and EMDR 2.0), Reconsolidation Therapy for PTSD, Somatic Experiencing, Psychedelic Integration, and Focusing.

I have a particular interest in providing counselling for health professionals and first responders. I appreciate how it can be particularly hard to find time and ways to take care of ourselves.

COMPLIMENTARY
20-MINUTE
CONSULTATION
Finding the right match in a therapist is important. To help us decide if we might be a good fit to work together I am happy to schedule a 20-minute initial consultation online or by phone. I book these appointments when I have space for new clients coming available in my practice.
EMDR THERAPY FOR TRAUMA, PHOBIAS, ANXIETY and PERFORMANCE ENHANCEMENT.
I have found EMDR therapy to be very effective for trauma-related concerns, as well as phobias, anxiety, and performance enhancement. For trauma processing, EMDR therapy typically requires 1.5 hours per session.

I also offer Intensive EMDR therapy. EMDR Intensives are an accelerated treatment approach, involving longer and/or more frequent EMDR sessions. Research and clinical experience demonstrates faster symptom reduction and treatment gains without some of the pitfalls of longer treatment protocols.
